2018 is looking to be an exciting year for us here at Fussels Fine Foods. We are already booked into a number of shows starting with the Exeter Food Festival on May Day Bank Holiday Weekend. Despite the current weather being rather grim, we are really looking forward to engaging with our customers at these events. We continue to cover monthly Farmer's Markets, not forgetting the now famous Frome Independent.
The crops are currently looking good. Andy and Farm Manager, Shaun engage in a 'Crop Walk
' every 2 weeks and it’s looking like we will have a bumper crop this year of Oil Seed Rape (OSR). However, there's still a lot to do on the farm before we arrive at harvest and get the combine out! Things will start to change in the fields as Spring approaches in March; lots of growth spurts after a time of dormancy over the winter months. Summer here on the farm is full on but what a fantastic result we get from our Oil Seed Rape crop - Gold Award Winning again in 2017 at the Taste of the West Awards.
We continue to make use of our Demo Kitchen with Corporate Cook-off days and bespoke events including ‘Field to Fork’ Tours of our now not so new premises, giving visitors and groups a chance to see and hear about the crops, the press and observe bottling in action, followed by a cookery demonstration and a delicious bowl of food showcasing our award winning products.
Today I’m in the Fine Foods Demo Kitchen, preparing supper for 20 of the Fussels Fine Foods Team. This is our opportunity to thank everyone who is on Team Fussels and celebrate, thank and look back over 2017. It’s a chance for us all to get together and enjoy exchanging stories and experiences from the various shows and markets to round off the year. We are all passionate about the business and our products; that’s why we joined the team here!
